The Lime Kiln Garden
As part of the Shaping the Future programme at St Mary’s School, space has become available to create a garden primarily for pupils to enjoy and benefit from being outdoors. The ideal is to create social spaces with quiet places, places to play or learn and places to just be; some in sunshine, some in shade. A broader role is for entertaining; whether parents, guests or staff. Click here for more information

New Library
Our vision is to enable our girls to be creative, bold and analytical thinkers. We aim to create a first class facility at St Mary’s to support our outstanding teaching and learning and to encourage girls to work both collaboratively and independently.  The new library will be a lively academic hub of the school - a place which will instil a love of reading, research and learning, encouraging exploration and the pursuit of knowledge, as well as collaboration and the sharing of ideas. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Centre
Science is a priority area to ensure that we can meet the needs of the growing number of girls interested in science at St Mary’s. Studying science in a single-sex environment really promotes girls’ interest and achievement in science and we want to provide the best possible environment for this.

The school’s vision for a new STEM Centre is a purpose built facility for the learning of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths underpinned by the teaching of Computer Science. Having all the STEM & CS teaching in one location reinforces the interconnectivity of these disciplines and enables the girls to take a multi-disciplinary approach, using one discipline to enhance the learning of another.

The aim would be for the new facility to become a centre of excellence for STEM learning regionally and nationally. It is intended that the STEM Centre will provide an outreach programme for local schools as well as a venue for collaboration with Universities and for teacher training events.

A Centre for the Performing Arts
This building would supplement the theatre, and be optimised for music, with great acoustics.  It would be a multi-purpose space large enough to hold whole-school events; it would also be a resource available to the wider community.

Art School Development
Art at St Mary’s is an area of excellence and the girls’ outstanding artwork is on permanent display around the school.  The extension to the Art School will bring real benefit to the girls by providing a vibrant, creative environment to inspire and encourage them, and allow their individuality and artistic ambitions to grow and develop.
