The Go-Between
A Fundraising Performance to support the Armed Forces Fund

27th September 2016

On Wednesday 27th September, we hosted a fantastic evening at the Apollo Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue to watch Michael Crawford – in the highly acclaimed new British musical The Go-Between.
This special performance was raising money for The Armed Forces Fund with a percentage of each ticket sold being donated to the Fund and also with a retiring collection.
The audience were deeply moved by a beautiful and touching tale of a young boy visiting a school friend’s family during the long hot summer of 1900 – with Michael Crawford playing the same character as a much older man.  With superb music, singing and acting – we all enjoyed a wonderful evening, raising money for such an important cause. Soldiers from The Grenadier, Coldstream and Scots Guards attended and helped with the retiring collection and some guests enjoyed after-show drinks with Michael Crawford and supporting cast.
We are very grateful to Mr Crawford and company of The Go-Between, the Apollo Theatre and their staff, as well as Mr Crawford’s family for all their support and help to make this such an memorable evening.

Former Parents' (2011 - 2014) Drinks Reception
Friday 13th May 2016

Florence Dyas

On Friday 13th May 2016, we hosted a drinks reception for the parents of the leavers of 2011-2014. Fifteen former parents attended and enjoyed drinks and canapés in Dr Kirk’s Study and some went on for a pub supper.

The aim of the event was to keep in touch former parents and hear how their daughters are getting on – as well as to continue to share news and promote the school and all our projects.

We have received some lovely letters of thanks. One parent wrote, “Thank you very much indeed for inviting us to such a happy gathering last Friday. Oliver and I both felt that it was such a nice idea and that it very much summed up the spirit of the school: once a Calne Girl, always a Calne Girl, and once a Calne Parent, always a Calne Parent!”
