Cantabile 2017 - The Royal Air Force Squadronaires

Cantabile III

On Friday 22 April 2017 St Mary’s School hosted a spectacular evening of song & swing with The RAF Squadronaires (by kind permission of the Air Force Board of the Defence Council). The third concert in the acclaimed Cantabile Concert series continues to raise money for the Armed Forces Fund, which provides education to children who have a parent, or any rank, killed or wounded in active service. The Squadronaires added a particularly appropriate tone.  The evening raised just over £7,600 which is a magnificant amount towards to such an important cause.

The Go-Between
A Fundraising Performance to support the Armed Forces Fund

27th September 2016

On Wednesday 27th September, we hosted a fantastic evening at the Apollo Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue to watch Michael Crawford – in the highly acclaimed new British musical The Go-Between.
This special performance was raising money for The Armed Forces Fund with a percentage of each ticket sold being donated to the Fund and also with a retiring collection.
The audience were deeply moved by a beautiful and touching tale of a young boy visiting a school friend’s family during the long hot summer of 1900 – with Michael Crawford playing the same character as a much older man.  With superb music, singing and acting – we all enjoyed a wonderful evening, raising money for such an important cause. Soldiers from The Grenadier, Coldstream and Scots Guards attended and helped with the retiring collection and some guests enjoyed after-show drinks with Michael Crawford and supporting cast.
We are very grateful to Mr Crawford and company of The Go-Between, the Apollo Theatre and their staff, as well as Mr Crawford’s family for all their support and help to make this such an memorable evening.
