 2014 - 2015

 St Margaret's Family Sports Day

Over 20 families gathered on a sunny Sunday afternoon in early October to have fun and experience all the wonderful sports facilities that are available to St Margaret’s.
The afternoon was a great success and hugely enjoyed by all that attended, with children from all years participating. Families enjoyed team games with Mr Dury on the astro pitch, swimming relays in the pool as well as family netball and football matches – which were highly contested by all ages and abilities!  The more sporting adults took part in an adult mini-triathlon, co-ordinated by the Sports Centre staff.  The older children and adults were also invited to play a hockey match whilst others enjoyed more fun in the pool.

Shaping the Future

Shaping the Future

The first of our Shaping the Future receptions, sharing the 10 Year Vision for St Mary's Calne and St Margaret's Preparatory School, took place at Freemasons' Hall in London on Tuesday 14 October.

Those attending the reception, including current and former parents, along with alumnae, had the chance not only to see the plans in detail but also the opportunity to talk with members of staff from both schools. A short presentation was given by the Headmistresses in which it was emphasised that the traditions and values of both schools are absolutely at the centre of the 10 Year Vision for the future; it is essential for us to provide the right environment in which to teach, learn and live.

If you would like to attend one of the Shaping the Future receptions being held at St Mary's or St Margaret's, please visit the event page for more information and to register. If you are unable to attend but would like more information about the 10 Year Vision, please do get in touch.

Update - registration for the Shaping the Future receptions is now closed, but click on Read More below to find out more about the 10 Year Vision.

New Mountain Bikes!

The PE Department are delighted to have received a very generous donation of 12 mountain bikes, allowing them to introduce a new activity to the curriculum.  The girls had an enjoyable first outing, where they learnt how to change gears for climbing slight hills, speeding along a straight and weaving in and out of cones.

The girls ventured out of school once everyone was bike wise, and a great deal of fun (and mud) was had by all!

An Evening with Sir Tim Rice
15th September 2012

Tim RiceOn the evening of Saturday 15th September, we were extremely privileged to welcome world famous lyricist and former parent, Sir Tim Rice, to talk to parents and guests in The Delscey Burns Theatre.

Sir Tim kindly donated his time and talent to help raise funds for the new Sports Hall.  As one of the world’s most successful lyricists with a string of awards to his name, he entertained us with frequently hilarious, and sometimes humbling, tales from his life in show business.  In addition, we were treated to a musical interlude by St Mary’s girls who sang some of his favourite songs from his musicals, all of whom sounded as good as any West End performance.
